Ksheersagar is formed from kṣīra (milk) and sāgara (ocean), meaning "the Ocean of Milk." In Hindu cosmology, it is the celestial ocean where Lord Vishnu rests upon the serpent Ananta (Shesha). It is also the ocean that was churned during the Samudra Manthana to obtain the nectar of immortality. The name symbolizes cosmic balance, abundance, purity, and divine creation.
